Elliott Bay Book Company

April 27, 2010

Hunters Capital’s ideal anchor tenant, the venerable Elliot Bay Book Company, was looking to relocate from its historic Pioneer Square location. The bookstore has been a Seattle institution since Walter Carr opened its doors in 1973. Much of Elliott Bay’s charm and appeal stem from its building’s history. The Ford Building was remodeled to meet the architectural and aesthetic needs of the book company. Capitol Hill’s bustling commercial corridors had the retail density and pedestrian traffic to support a large independent bookstore, thus sealing Elliott Bay’s desire to move.
